Heritage

ECOdesign Architects has worked with heritage and character homes, buildings and conservation areas since the early 1980’s. We leave preservation, restoration and reconstruction of the past to those of specific historic expertise – as we seek to re-purpose and re-build heritage projects into more contemporary ‘adaption’. Hence we (or our associated consultants) produce ‘Statements of Heritage Impact’ and/or ‘Conservation Management Plans’ depending upon regulatory need as the base-line for conservation of original fabric, and acceptable changes, where appropriate.

This involves detailed examination of all aspects of a buildings history, development, use and construction, so as to retain its associations and meanings. ‘The Burra Charter’ is used in this process. Our heritage and technical knowledge underpins our approach to infusing new uses into heritage buildings.
